The Hill Country Chapter of Texas Master Naturalist is one of a number of regional Texas Master Naturalist organizations in the state. The Texas Master Naturalist program is a statewide organization sponsored jointly by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and Texas AgriLife Extension Service. Master Naturalists receive in-depth, research-based, scientific training in wildlife and natural resource management and then share that knowledge to promote sustainable use, conservation, and maintenance of our natural resources. In the Hill Country we receive training specific to our area.

Impact in our area
Since its inception in 2002 our chapter has trained more than 200 volunteers and completed more than 50,000 service hours, including:

• The Land Management Assistance Program (LMAP) has advised over 200 land owners on land management and habitation issues affecting more than 18,000 acres.

• In 2009, 9 chapter members gave over 40 presentations to a total of approximately 2,100 attendees. Many of these talks were to outside organizations such as Native Plant Society of Texas chapters, homeowners' associations, and very importantly, school children.

• Our volunteers have reached more than 49,000 youths and adults.

Mission Statement
Our mission is to develop a corps of well-informed volunteers to provide education, outreach and service dedicated to the beneficial management of natural resources and natural areas within their communities.
