TMN 2006 Annual Meeting
CAMN was well represented and well honored at the Texas Master Naturalist annual meeting at Mo Ranch near Kerrville on 20-22 October. Roger Myers won third place in the art category for his trout drawing. Barb Coutant won first place and Best in Show for her gorgeous nature quilt. CAMN sponsored the Saturday night bonfire, which was well attended by a bevy of fun loving naturalists from around the state. The weekend was packed with educational sessions, highlighted by a weekend long facilitator workshop for the Leopold Education Project, taught by the director himself, Ed Pembleton. You can experience the weekend vicariously through some great picture by Jon Brandt, accessible via our Yahoo group.

The money will go toward this year's curriculum expenses, in particular, the geology bus and the student manuals. CAMN President Tim Scoggins accepted the check from Kurt Hill, CAMN Class of 2005 and REI Outreach Coordinator, at the store during their morning 'huddle' on Friday. Many thanks to REI, Kurt Hill, and CAMN Past President Jeri Porter who did the leg work to make this happen.

CAMN says Thanks!
CAMN recently took possession of an IBM ThinkPad computer, generously donated by Jean Nance and her husband Seay. The board has been debating how to handle the growing need to present PowerPoint presentations for speakers at general meetings and during spring class. We were in the process of surveying the board and the membership to find out who had computers we might borrow. Jean, who edits our newsletter and sits on our board of directors, responded to the inquiry with the offer to give us a computer. This solves a big problem for us and we are very grateful. Thank you Jean and Seay.
