On July 8, 2008, the Williamson County Commissioners Court appointed Robert A. Whitney as County Agent—Agricultural. Bob is a 25-year veteran Extension Agent, having worked in Comanche County, Tarrant County, and Parker County. He has experience in both urban and rural settings and has been familiar with the Master Gardener program for almost two decades.
Since February of 2007, Bob has worked as the Chief of Party and Team Leader for an Extension Project teaching new agriculture technology to Iraqi Extension Agents. He is also involved in international agriculture work in Honduras and China, helping missionaries who work in agriculture areas with tribal people.
Bob has a Masters and Bachelors in agriculture from Tarleton State University, graduating in 1980 and 1982.
He and his wife of 27 years, Laurie, have two children: Kate, a graduate of Howard Payne University now working in International Programs with TAMU, and Marshall, a Junior at TAMU majoring in Engineering and also working in the engineering department on campus.
