Below is a list of current volunteer opportunities. Please keep checking back as new oppurtunities and events will be regularly added.

The Greenhouse at the Georgetown High School—Contact Wayne Rhoden

The greenhouse is used for training and it is where all our plants are propagated and grown for our plant sales. Work goes on throughout the year so there are plenty of opportunities for volunteer hours.

Junior Master Gardener Program—Contact Patsy Bredahl or Juanita James

The Junior Master Gardener Program is an ongoing program that is a lot of fun for everyone involved. The opportunities are endless and very rewarding.

Berry Springs Park and Preserve—Contact Susan Blackledge

Berry Springs Park and Preserve is a Williamson County Park on the outskirts of Georgetown. It is a wonderful place that the WCMG have become involved with. Work days are held regularly and there is always volunteer opportunities available. Contact Susan for information, she would love to have you come out and help.

Seed Cleaning at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center—Contact Christine Powell

Seed Cleaning at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is a wonderful program that provides a volunteer and learning experience. Participants will be helping to clean seeds destined for the Millennium Seed Bank in Kew Gardens England. Seed cleaning parties are held monthly but other opportunities are available.

Vegetable and Earthkind Rose Garden—Contact Wayne Rhoden

The WCMG are currently establishing a test vegatable garden area and Earthkind Rose Garden. Both of these projects are at the WC Extension office and will provide valuable volunteer opportunities throughout the year.

St. Richard's Church, Round Rock—Contact Walt Krueger

The St Richard’s garden project is tuning into not just a major undertaking but a magnificent obsession. This is not a small bed or two at the entrance of the church but eventually a several acre project including various garden areas to suit every taste. When finished (is a garden ever finished?) it will be a very special place for the congregation to gather and wonder on the beauties of nature.

Discovery United Methodist Church, Hutto—Contact Patsy Bredahl

The Discovery United Methodist Church landscaping project is now maturing into some wonderful flower beds in front of the church Many of the plants were grown in our own greenhouse where so many of you have been working so hard. Our work time at the church is every Thursday morning starting at 7:00 AM. Patsy would love to have any of her fellow Master Gardeners any time you can help.

St. Phillips Church—Contact Mary Anne Pirics

St. Phillips Church, October 2, October 9, October 23, November 13, November 20, December 4 and December 11th. We start work at 9:30 and work until about 12:30, but may vary depending on how involved we get. There is a tremendous need for gardeners to do planting, weeding, pruning and planning of new garden beds. This is a large undertaking that will require a lot of hands to bring these two acres space up to their full potential.

The purpose of the Native Plant Society of Texas (NPSOT) is to promote the conservation, research and utilization of the native plants and plant habitats of Texas, through education, outreach and example. Volunteer opportunities are varied and many throughout the year.
