Nov, 2007 - Walker County Master Gardener Sally Nelson has been named the Chief Executive Officer of Huntsville Memorial Hospital. Sally retired from Texas Children’s Hospital in 2004 where she served as Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Information Officer. A Magna Cum Laude graduate of Louisiana State University with a B.S. in Accounting, she received her Certified Public Accountant license from the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy in 1979.

Among other awards and achievements, she was named as one of 40 finalists for the 2001 CFO Excellence Awards, won the Houston Women’s CIO (Chief Information Officer) Award in 2002, was named Healthcare nominee for the Texas Hall of Fame by Governor Rick Perry and was the “Women on the Move” 2003 award recipient among Texas Executive Women.

She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Greater Houston Chapter of the American Red Cross. After moving to Huntsville in 2005, she took the Walker County Master Gardener class with sister-in-law Emily Evans
