Volunteer Oppotunities

Need voulunteer hours? Here are some of the activities planned where you can earn your hours, and there will be special projects throughout the year:

Zoo Workdays
The first Saturday of each month at 9:00 am
Maintain various garden areas at the Abilene Zoo. Some gardening equipment is available, but it never hurts to bring your own stuff and gloves. The entrance is at the last gate on the west side of the parking lot. Note that you must have current waiver forms on file with Melissa before you can participate in Zoo workdays.

Extension Office Workdays
The second Saturday of each month at 9:00 am.
Maintain the garden in front of the Abilene AgriLife Extension offices. Check with Fred Perkins at the Extension Office (325-672-6048) beforehand to see what maintenance is planned, then bring your appropriate gardening tools and gloves.

Big Country Master Gardener Association Meetings
The third Tuesday of each month.
Learn more about our association, our plans and our activities by attending the monthly meetings, and get hours for it to boot. The meetings are at the AgriLife Extension Offices and start at 7:00 pm.

JMG garden at Nelson Boys & Girls Club
To be decided
How about gardening with kids? You can get volunteer hours helping with the Junior Master Gardener (JMG) garden at the Nelson Boys and Girls Club. Come out and see what these kids are growing. Check with Cheryl (mgardeners@yahoo.com) for details.
