Clover Kids are youth between the ages of 5 and 8 and in kindergarten through 2nd grade.  At this point, they are not considered bonafide 4-H members; however, they may compete in most 4-H events on a county level.  Clover Kids will be judged by asking simple questions about a project or activity and will not be ranked in any way.  Each participant will recieve a Certificate of Participation for events that are entered. 

Junior 4-H members must be third graders and 8 years of age by September 1 of the school year and must not have passed their 10th birthday before August 31 of the current 4-H year. According to state guidelines these new 4-H sub-junior members may not participate in any prospect shows or judging contest the summer prior to entering the first day of classes. Strict enforcement of this regulation began in 1997.

Intermediate 4-H members must have passed their 11th birthday and must not have passed their 14th birthday before August 31 of the current 4-H year.
