Food & Nutrition Project field trip and community service Before everyone's schedules gets really crazy with the start of school, we are going to have a one day blowout of having a field trip and doing some community service! This will count toward your project completion as an hour of a food and nutrition activity and up to 5 hours of community service, depending on how long you stay.
Wednesday August 18-
Field Trip: Panera Bread in Pearland at FM 518 and 288. 10:30-12:30. We will get a tour of the bakery and restaurant with lots of good information on the different types of bread and grains. We will also get to frost some of their delicious cinnamon rolls! We will then eat lunch there ( everyone pays for themselves). This trip is limited to the first 20 to respond.
Community Service: We are going to Grace United Methodist Church in Manvel. They do a food bank there every Wednesday and feed 200-250 people. We will help bag food items from 1:00 to 4:00. Needy families come from 4:00-6:00 to pick up their bags. Stay as long as you can or want to. The people who come usually have their children with them and we can also help keep the children entertained while the mom fills out paperwork and gets her groceries. No limit on helpers, come anytime between 1-6.
Please RSVP to Nicole Gardner 832-279-9503 or ngardner1@peoplepc.com
